Smoothies
One of my all time favourite recipes is:
A couple of handfuls of spinach
Some chopped capsicum
An apple of any variety
A mandarin
Some chopped celery
A banana
Some strawberries
Two cups of water
This one makes a huge smoothie, so can be used for two meals.

I'm a smoothie fan. What better way to get several serves of fruit and veges into your day?! I'll share some of my favourite recipes as I go :)
Today's lunch:
1x Banana
1x Granny Smith Apple
A couple of handfuls of spinach
Some Broccoli
Two teaspoons each of linseeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds
A cup (or two) of water.
Blend until smooth (or as close to smooth as you can get) then drink :)

What I Don't Understand Part 1.
Non-vegans. I don't understand non-vegans. Do people not comprehend the suffering they cause? Do they not understand that the meat they eat comes from animals that are raised to be eaten? Raised on a diet of torture and pain, fed antibiotics so that they don't die from the disgusting conditions that they're kept in. If all the grain that is fed to cattle was given to people, we could end worldwide poverty. Yes, END IT. If we stopped to think about the amount of methane produced by the ridiculously large population of livestock raised for slaughter, we'd figure out that it contributes to 50% of Climate Change.
And don't think that vegetarians who still drink milk are getting off the hook. Female cows are forcibly impregnated each year to keep them producing milk. When the calf is born, it is taken away from its mother, who then bellows and cries for its baby. If the calf is a girl it is artificially fed from rubber teats instead of by its own mother. If it's a boy it is placed in a confinement so small that it can't move, because that way its muscles don't strengthen, and it is later slaughtered to create veal. Yes milk-drinkers, you contribute to this. The mother is milked several times a day, and re-inseminated again the next year, which marks the start of the cycle all over again.
This torture won't end unless the demand for the products ends.

So I'm vegan. I guess that's pretty obvious. I am not vegan by necessity, like some who have food allergies, I am vegan by choice. I choose to turn away from the suffering humans inflict on the planet and its creatures. I don't eat animal products, I use vegan friendly skincare, and I sign close to 50 petitions a week trying to abolish laws that harm the world. And what is my reward? My family tells me that I will end up all alone, with no friends. According to them I will never find a partner. And people constantly complain when I try to tell them the impact that they are having on the world around them. But I don't care. I will end up as a lonely old spinster with 30 cats if I have to. I refuse to give up on what's right. I will not stop campaigning. I will not stop informing people of the pain they cause through their blatant disregard for animal rights. I will stay vegan.
